Today I decided I was going to leave some flowers on a random car in a parking lot. It was an easy task to complete. I did not have a very good day so I wanted to do something simple.
I stopped by a Walmart on my way home to buy some flowers to leave on a car. I searched the whole store and could not find a bouquet anywhere. I was in a grumpy mood as I was walking back to my car, not thrilled at having to go to another store.
I noticed a family parked in a handicap parking space. There was an elderly woman standing next to the cart and what I assumed to be her adult son standing next to her trying to wrestle a wheelchair into the trunk. I ran over and helped him get the wheelchair in the trunk, ( as I helped I explained about my blog and how I was doing a good deed each day) then announced that I was going to help put the groceries away as well. The looked at me shocked and tried to decline but I insisted. I quickly put the groceries away then turned to take the cart to the cart return slot. The son stopped me, looked me in the eye, shook my hand and said, “God bless you for what you are doing.”
I am quickly learning that I may think I have a plan, do some good deed or act of kindness each day, but how those play out are not always up to me. I think that I have a lot to learn as this journey continues.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not learn on your own understanding.
